About us

BECBelgrade Ecological Centre (BEC) is a non-profit non-political organisation dedicated to the protection and improvement of the environment. BEC was established and registered in 1990 as one of the founding members of the Belgrade Youth Council (Omladinski savet Beograda).

The main purpose of BEC is raising environmental awareness in the local community and supporting the development of civil society following the basic principles of sustainable development. BEC also helps to raise environmental awareness, especially among youth, and express creativity through various programmes.

Our members are BA and MA students of urban planning, geography, forestry, landscape architecture, economics, law, arts. They are all connected by a love for nature and desire to encourage reflection about and understanding of the significance of preserving the environment.

Main objectives of BEC are:

  • raising environmental awareness
  • environmental education
  • redesigning urban environments
  • informing the public

These objectives are achieved through various programmes for environmental protection and improvement, divided in the following groups:
